Pricing

Krawl pricing — Free, Pro ($49/month), and Pay-as-you-go plans, per-request cost ceilings, and keyless x402 pay-per-request for autonomous agents.

Krawl has transparent, self-serve pricing. There are two ways to pay: API key plans with monthly quotas, and x402 pay-per-request for autonomous agents that don't want an account. No sales calls, no "contact us" gating.

  • Demo — instant key via POST /auth/demo-key, no signup, expires ~24h.
  • Free — the default plan for any signed-up key.
  • Pro — flat $49/month subscription via Stripe. Best for steady usage.
  • Pay-as-you-go — metered via Stripe: $5.00 per deep report and $1.00 per quick search, unlimited volume. A PAYG key with no billing set up returns 402 {"error":"billing_setup_required"} until checkout is completed.

Upgrade with POST /billing/checkout — pass {"plan":"pro"} (default) or {"plan":"payg"} — and manage your subscription with POST /billing/portal.

Per-request limits

Each request has a hard LLM-cost ceiling so spend is predictable:

ModeCost ceiling
Deep research$2.50 per report
Quick search$0.40 per request

If a request would cross its ceiling, Krawl stops gathering and synthesizes a report from what it already has (ceiling_hit: true in the terminal usage SSE event).

x402 — pay per request (no account)

Autonomous agents can pay per request in USDC on Base with no signup using the x402 protocol:

ModePrice
Deep research$5.00 USDC
Quick research$1.00 USDC

Call a research endpoint with no X-API-Key → receive HTTP 402 with payment requirements → sign an EIP-3009 USDC authorization → retry with an X-PAYMENT header.

Quotas & overage

When a metered quota is exhausted on Demo or Free, requests return HTTP 402 with {"error": "quota_exceeded", "plan": "..."} and an upgrade hint. Pro and Pay-as-you-go are unlimited and never hit quota.
